BACKGROUND:

Caught in a Backfire raid on Day 3, the Forrestal was severely
damaged. In the ensuing weeks, two other NATO carriers have been
sunk and one more damaged. The Forrestal is returning to action
after repairs. COMEASTLAN has stripped the bottom of the barrel
to put aircraft on the deck. The few remaining F-14's are on board
the Nimitz as she limps to port. The F-18 and A-6 squadrons have
been decimated. Your scratch team consists of a combination of
NATO's remaining naval air reserves: French Crusaders, British
Harriers and Phantoms and the last Marine F-18's in the inventory.
Conserve your assets -there won't be any replacements.

ORDERS:

The Russians still hold Keflavik. You must destroy it without
losing your air strike capability.

INTELLIGENCE:

The only good news is that the Backfires are all gone. Russian
forces at Keflavik are believed to consist of Flankers and
Fulcrums, although some Fencers stationed in Norway are not
accounted for. It is very likely that the remaining front line
Russian attack submarines will attempt to establish a barrier
defense of Iceland. At least one and perhaps as many as three ASW
subs are expected. You will receive limited E-3 and P-3 support
from Lorient, France. Transit distance from that base makes timing
of your support missions essential.

VICTORY CONDITIONS:

Minimum - destroy Keflavik
Total - destroy Keflavik and 4 Russian subs
